  Small Buildings You Care About</p><p>Neighborhoods across the country are 
 filled with empty lots, old buildings in despair, and tenants who cannot fi
 nd an apartment or commercial space that works for them. There are people w
 ho walk around their neighborhood and imagine a million ideas to improve it
 . They see potential for infill, renovations, or starting a business. These
  small scale improvements work best when they come from small scale develop
 ers. The Small Developer Training Workshop is designed to help regular peop
 le build something they can be proud of, close to home. The weekend worksho
 p will provide technical skills and resources for small projects like 1-3 s
 tory buildings with less than 20 units, which are commercial or mixed in us
 e. The course assumes you know a lot about where you live, but not necessar
 ily much about real estate and development. Through applied learning, guida
 nce from seasoned coaches and networking with local like-minded people, thi
 s workshop is a first step toward leaving a physical legacy in your neighbo
 rhood.</p><p>This weekend workshop will provide technical skills and resour
 ces to navigate development financing, zoning and entitlement, site selecti
 on, building design and basic approaches to construction in order to assemb
 le your own small scale real estate deal. The workshop will also address pr
 actical issues surrounding becoming a developer, including making a transit
 ion from your day job, risk management, quality of life and basic business
